Its southern part is plain, rich in meadows, fields and roads. In its northern part its picturesque hills, forests and lakes amaze tourists. It covers a part of the Leszno region Upland, Krzywinskie Lake District and Row Polski.

The first mention of Krzemieniewo comes from 1383. The emplacement of a medieval castle constitutes a proof of the earlier existence of the settlement, which was situated in Krzemieniewo, near the intersection of the two roads to Poniec and Bielawy. The first owner of the surrounding villages was the house of Wyskotowie in the XIVth century. Since 1754 till 1914 it was a time of German colonization on these terrains, strong Germanization and the Prussian reign. The outbreak of the First World War, the participation of the local people in the Wielkopolskie Uprising led to the defeat of conquerors and regaining the independence. During the Nazi occupation 1585 people were taken away from the urban district’s terrain and a part of them forced to labour. As a result of warfare, stays in prisons and executions 159 people died then. The liberation came in 1945.

The present time of Krzemieniewo urban district is first of all created by reliable work of its inhabitants. For the last decades roads and streets have been created. All the cities have been provided with water-supply system and telecommunication. Most of them already have gas pipelines. Common rooms and schools have been built and new institutions have been created. Agriculture has been being developed. Thanks to such people’s attitude Krzemieniewo has scored the highest points in the national competition ,Gmina Mistrz Gospodarności'' many times. In 1989 it was regarded as the best urban district in the postwar fourty fifth anniversary. Today, Krzemieniewo is a well-developed agricultural urban district with a rich infrastructure, valuable historic monuments and a wonderful landscape. Its authorities are concentrated on the environment protection, tourism and culture development as well as on the modernization of farms. They are constantly looking for investors who will create new working places.
